Update 2000 Winter/Spring and looking forward to
summer 2001!
We're officially a restaurant and full bar!
Our first event was a private wedding Sept 23rd 2000. With no kitchen yet, the event was catered. There wasn't any heat either, however, the 110 people partied enough to raise the temperature substantially. Our 2nd event in November, was a fashion show benefit for our Sharon Springs Arts Council, of course. And what a fashion show it was! We, and the Finishing Touch shop who organized the show, raised over $1500 for the concerts and Chalybeate Park projects.
The Roseboro opened officially to the public on October 28th, 2000 with a smashing Halloween party...the First Annual Witches Ball. 200 people showed up in costume to dance and party with The Sun Mountain Fiddler's Band.
Then, on Friday, November 18th, 2000, we opened with our first menu for walk-in business. (www.roseboro.com/menu.htm) We have live music on Saturday nights and Sunday Brunches. The New Year's Gala, black tie event, was the very first ever in the Roseboro as it was originally a summer-only operation. The very first Yule tree went up in the lobby Dec 14th. With the exception of lobby furnishings and decor, the lobby, bar/dining room and kitchen have been completed. We serve a bistro menu of hot hearty sandwiches, soups, salads, wraps, fresh baked breads and homemade desserts as well as our expanded dinner menu for 2001. Sunday Jazz/Acoustic Brunch has been a tremendous success. So all in all, our trial run this fall 2000 was exactly what we needed it to be...school. A way to make sure it's all together for this summer 2001. The Roseboro restaurant will be reopening late May 2001.
We've also been working on the storefronts...The Roseboro Shops...all winter (starting Jan 2001.) The "Howland House" wing of the Roseboro (click here for the history) is now restructured and looks great, bringing a sense of continuity back to Main St. The porches are being rebuilt in April/May 2001with the projected completion of the Shops in June. There will be 5 prime spaces available at very reasonable rents (click here for details) and your very own website is included!
