Once known as the Howland House and now part of the Roseboro, this south wing will house 5 shop spaces. The property faces Main Street and has a covered porch running the entire 72 ft of its front. Porch views the free summer concerts in Chalybeate Park. Shops will be set up as a gallery of privately operated spaces accessed by a main entrance and common corridor. Utilities are included. A free web page is also included on www.sharonsprings.com and www.roseboro.com which has had over 200k visitors and 1M page hits this year alone. The adjacent Roseboro restaurant and bar will bring a considerable flow of people, as will its location to other shops and restaurants. Most of the Roseboro clientele is from the Cooperstown area, Mohawk Valley, Cobleskill and east & west on Rte 20. Successful businesses that surround this location: Gino's Italian Cafe, Kim's Main Street Salon, The Finishing Touch (A designer's studio of home decorations and women's apparel,) Cobbler & Co gift shop, Studio North dance studio, The Imperial Baths (summer only), Edgefield B&B, Brimstonia Cottage, The New Yorker Guest House B&B, Sharon Historical Museum (summer only) and the American Hotel in May 2001. Having duplicated retail businesses is not a problem since it will encourage shopping. Many tourists from Glimmerglass Opera and the Baseball Hall of Fame have discovered Sharon Springs and enjoy the quiet non-baseball atmosphere, shops, cafes and history. This building is on the self-guided Historic Main Street Walking Tour. The Roseboro is currently a member of the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce & the Sharon Springs Chamber of Commerce. Most of our village tourist businesses are members of both of these chambers and both offer group health insurance. |
